Short Story The Times of the Day #1

Morning: It was the time when the sun was slowly beginning to wake up. Yet, my eyes were devoid of sleep, filled instead with tears born of a lingering dream. An indescribable sadness weighed upon my mind. I glanced out the window; the sky, mirroring my mood, was shrouded in thick clouds. A few minutes later, a ray of sunlight tentatively peeked through the clouds. Yes, the sky had cleared slightly, though the overcast gloom had not fully lifted. A faint brightness—reminiscent of the weak sunlight touching Kallikuppam—was visible. This unsettled morning weather seemed to echo the state of my own mind.

Evening: As dusk began to settle, I went to the park as usual. A few lovely faces caught my eye here and there. The movement of people and the sound of children’s laughter brought a sense of comfort to my heart. After enjoying the park's tranquility for a while, I headed towards Reliance Smart Bazaar. I took a quick stroll to see if anything interesting caught my eye before leaving. That is how the evening slowly unfolded.

Night: Upon returning home, I prepared a simple *kanji* (rice porridge) for dinner. The aroma of the steaming hot porridge filled the room. I drank it while reflecting on the day's thoughts and events, then retired for the night. I closed my eyes, hopeful that by morning, the clouds would disperse and a new light would dawn in my life.
