 If you love cheese, you might want to book a flight to Thailand soon. That’s because Burger King Thailand has launched a new menu item that is sure to satisfy your cheese cravings: the Real Cheeseburger.

What is the Real Cheeseburger, you ask? Well, it’s exactly what it sounds like: a burger with no meat, no toppings, no sauce, and just 20 slices of American cheese stacked between two buns. Yes, you read that right: 20 slices of cheese!

The Real Cheeseburger was launched on July 9, 2023, and it quickly went viral on social media, with mixed reactions from users. Some were curious to try it, some were disgusted by it, and some were skeptical about its authenticity.

Burger King Thailand confirmed that the Real Cheeseburger is real and not a joke, and explained that it is made with American cheese, which is similar to cheddar cheese but has a milder taste. The burger costs 109 baht (about $3.40 USD) as a promotional price, down from the original price of 380 baht (about $11.90 USD).

Some brave customers who tried the Real Cheeseburger shared their reviews online. One TikTok user said he counted about 20 sheets of cheese on his burger and described it as “greasy” but “pretty delicious.” Another user said he bought the burger, took the cheese slices off, and saved them in the fridge for another meal. A travel blogger said he struggled eating even half of the burger and suggested grilling the other half.

However, not everyone was impressed by the cheesy creation. A writer at Lifestyle Asia said the burger was “dry, a shock to the digestive system, and literally a thousand calories worth of unnecessary processed cheese.” A doctor also warned about the health risks of consuming too much cheese, such as high sodium, saturated fat, and calories.

The Real Cheeseburger is not the only unique and stunning dish in Thailand. McDonald’s Thailand launched the ice cream sundae with chilli pastes and pork floss last year, and the Pizza Company launched the durian cheese pizza, mango pizza, and shabu-shabu pizza before.
